About Santa's Home – The North Pole
Santa’s home is in the North Pole. His house nestles in a pretty little valley with lots of trees. The Elves houses make up the rest of the village. There are little shops for everyone to get their food and clothes and a nursery for the youngest elves to play in when their parents are busy.
It is dark in the North Pole all winter, as the sun doesn’t creep up into the sky until the summer months. This makes it a very cold place. When the sky is clear the moon makes everything bright and sparkly as it shines off the white snow.
Santa’s house is warm and cosy, there’s always a log fire burning. Big comfy armchairs are placed in front of the fire so that Santa and Mrs Claus can warm their toes after being out in the snow. Mrs Claus loves to bake and the house usually has a beautiful smell of fresh bread or cookies. The rooms are small and full of interesting things that Santa Claus has collected from around the world.
Although it is cold, there are quite a few animals around. An arctic fox is sometimes seen peaking in the bins to see what he can find to eat. There are polar bears and caribou that sometimes visit the village, even some hares hopping around. And of course Santa's reindeer. To give the reindeer a well earned rest, especially after Christmas, we sometimes get the local pack of Malamut (sled dogs) to help us to get about.
